Mark Zuckerberg — Going from Harvard College, writing code for notorious applications to making millions and billions for a social network like Facebook is what made Mark Zuckerberg more than just a random face within the progression of technology. He’s made a name for himself as well as a few enemies along the way.
With a good part of the world using Facebook and the rest chattering about it, most seem to think that they have this American in a million figured out, but Mark Zuckerberg has much to say about that and his work.
“I just think people have a lot of fiction. But, you know, I mean, the real story of Facebook is just that we’ve worked so hard for all this time. I mean, the real story is actually probably pretty boring, right? I mean, we just sat at our computers for six years and coded.”
“Calm down. Breathe. We hear you.”
“Facebook was not originally created to be a company. It was built to accomplish a social mission… to make the world more open and connected.”
“I’m here to build something for the long-term. Anything else is a distraction.”
“Phones are inherently social devices and the industry is just beginning to discover what’s possible.”
“By giving people the power to share, we’re making the world more transparent.”
“Simply put: we don’t build services to make money; we make money to build better services. And, we think this is a good way to build something.”
“The company is definitely set up in a way where myself and the other founders have a lot of controls over it.”
“I believe that, over time, people get remembered for what they build, and if you build something great people don’t care about what someone says about you in a movie… They care about what you build.”
“We are definitely in no rush.”
“A squirrel dying in front of your house may be more relevant to your interest right now than people dying in Africa.”
“This week, I got an iPhone. This weekend, I got four chargers so I can keep it charged everywhere I go and a landline so I can actually make phone calls.”
“Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life.”
